Brunswick Braunschweig Police Belt Buckle Opinion

    Hello

How does this buckle look? Original? I would assume this is late war without leather Tab.
Thank you for the help in advance.

Original it is, but used by postwar fire defence units in Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen).

Thank you for the help. Was this a wartime made buckle?

as said, it is postwar, but the box could have been from old stocks and so be wartime.
Have seen a crate with them at a Lüdenscheid manufacturer. They needed only to make the "disc"!

There won't be much persons around that are still alive that ever have visited manufacturer's .
My visits were arranged in the earliest 1970's. So now, about 50 years ago!!

Yes, it is postwar Lower-Saxony. But later there came another pattern.

Overhoff sold this one in the early seventies as Reitervereine with article-number 0797/45 mm.
Price-list page 14. At that moment the box was from quite shiny lightweight material. The same
boxes were used for fire-brigade buckles, as well as the police from Hamburg and a buckle that
was sold as "neutral". Other pages from pirce-lists do show the same boxes to be used with
                  other buckles/organizations.

                    Hello Wilhelm,

I am collection firebrigade-items. But it is new to me, these were sold as "Reitervereine"! That is an interesting hint! With the Slogan "Gott mit uns"!?

I think the Boxes mostly have been for universal use.

                    Best regards

                    Nightwish

Yes, I know and sounds strange, but as such it is in their price-list. The boxes for many of such buckles were all the same. I did observe this during my various visits in the earlyiest 1970's at the Overhoff concern.

Early post war buckle made with left over private purchase WW2 buckles .
They simply replaced the eagle on the matrix by a regional symbol like this horse .
Much easier to organize the transformation on an alu buckle as you only have to replace the removable buckle center , not the whole buckle like with iron ones .
Did you still see "Gott mit uns" and this matt alu on 70's buckle ? not that logical ?

That is not my point. It is a known fact (even to me!), that WW2-Buckle-Boxes were used in post-war production and for taking different layers, and the layers matrix have been denazifiyed.

The point that makes me wonder, was, that the Brunswick-Buckle-Model was sold to private Reitervereine with the "Gott mit uns!"-Slogan.

That means not, Wilhelm, that I disbelieve your statement!

But possibly my english isn't good enough to point it out.

There were more post-war buckle with the same motto.
There was no other symbol before the horse,as for example
the buckle with the edelweiss. Through this one can see
                            the army eagle.

I have the price-list. Believe it or not, I don't care!

                              I believe you!

The only News to me have been the selling for private organisatins, like a Reiterverein.
