anyone want to discuss or see any particular youth buckles ?

I am on covid-19 lock down and playing with my youth buckles, I haven't been a regularly participating member of WA in some years. It appears that the forum has leaned towards SS buckles as a majority of topic. I don't have anything to add to SS buckles, but I have a pretty broad HJ , DJ , NSDAP youth buckle collection. So if anyone would like to see examples of a type, material, maker, or mark of a specific buckle please let me know and I will be happy to post and discuss.

    Hi,

I have been looking for a stone mint aluminum Hitler youth buckle for quite some time, so I would really love to one of those if you have one, (might help me to know what to expect, as I haven't seen many). I am talking about really mint, unissued condition with crisp details, and all finish remaining.
Any maker would be interesting, but only solid aluminum.

Thanks in advance, and good health to you and everyone else during this difficult time.

    Chris

A topic on gold finished HJ buckles would be interesting. Are they HJ Marine?

Can the oxide be cleaned without ruining it?

              Mint buckle for SScollector

              Chris
this is as mint as they come. A large cache of these HJ aluminum buckles in mint condition with their RZM tags wrapped in the original paper were found some time in the 80's. This is as mint as it comes...

                  Hello nickn
your HJ buckle is made from a Alloy
and it comes with this dull finish.
                  Don´t do enything with it.

                  Best

I was going to say that exactly. That catch style is really cool.

Also, I found this beauty during a search last night. Sadly, it has already sold, but this one appears to be unpolished with silver finish like what we see on most other types of Third Reich aluminum buckles. I would assume that this is extremely rare for Hitler youth buckles though, from what I have learned so far. I did not find any other mint ones, (polished or otherwise). Thanks again, everyone!

Chad - great to have you back on WAF and participating in the discussions. As our resident HJ & DJ authority who has a most prolific collection, I was curious as to which buckle from the respective groups:
                          1. Which do you feel is the most sought after and why?
                          2. What might be the most unusual aspect of these buckles and why?

Dan, great to be seen missed all you guys. Glad to be back regardless of the circumstances! Thanks for participating on this thread!
                            In regards to your questions

HJ- I think for HJ this is a super subjective question. I really don't feel like there is a super stand out for HJ. The HJ buckles as a group already have so much to offer in regards to different materials and markings. I think that it falls on personal opinion as to the most sought after. My personal favorite that I seek out are the early nickel silver buckles. I like these most because of there great color of the metal and to me they look the most regal and dated. I also like the fact that the early buckles and such a mix of markings.

DJ- Hands down the black DJ buckles would have to be the most sought of this type. Although we have not found regulations stating their meaning or origin; we have pictures of them in wear. I would guess that their occurrence is about 50/1 (regular/black) if not higher. I have been very lucky to locate and purchase the black DJ buckles that I hold. I believe that I have a total around 150 DJ buckles and of those 10 are black DJ and of those maybe only 1-2 is maker marked.

I will post an example of an HJ nickel and DJ black a little later
                            Thanks
                            Chad
