    Black DJ

A friend sent these photos of a buckle he picked up at the SOS. Every black painted DJ I have seen has a silver rune. Has anyone seen a all brass DJ with black paint?IMG_6962.JPGIMG_6961.JPG

Thanks for the opinion on the buckle. Thanks for the photos. That is the same set. If he had sent me photos or called me I would’ve advised him not to buy the set. It looks like an original belt and buckle but I don’t think it left the factory painted black. Any other opinions.

From the picture I cannot say for sure if the paint is ok. However black DJ buckles with yellow Rune do exist. I’ve seen some of them and I know about a period source which mentions this variant.

Is the post sleeve also black painted?

          Regards,
          Christian

Thanks for the info. Since the prong bar isn’t painted maybe it was painted before the prong bar was installed. I will pass the info on.

I guess the second buckle isn’t the same buckles. My friends buckle has the painted prong bar the second buckle doesn’t. The wear on the paint looks almost the same.

It's the same buckle but in the first pics the post prongs assembly looks like that has been painted

Why would a dealer strip the paint off the prong bar and even the ends?

most of those blackened buckles i have seen, had no black paint on back side.
                          ps
as for me on this buckle paint seems to be old, but not so old, as it should be on original.
