    Well Jon,

As I thought, your first pics are from an early vehicle using, perhaps?, an early MG34 with PT34 mags? but cold it have carried an MG13?. The later models show the more standard MG Werkzeug metal box.

Here goes another try. I know not the real thing but, perhaps by similarity, we migth get nearer. Pics are from a friend and member here. First is a tool pouch for Czech ZB MG, the second is a tool pouch/roll, dated 1937, similar to that used for Luf. radio equipment...but I've also seen it as VW tool pouch, see these links:

          Carles,

I think that you are in the right area, I found this on the net although not for an MG or 2cm. In the propaganda series MG34 book, it states that there was an MG spares case for panzers, that contained everything to enable the MG to be used in the infantry role, in other words, butt, bipod etc.

It's an interesting bit of research and my thanks to all for your time.

          Jon

Dimensions of the previous tool case ca. 25 x 16 x 28 cm.

Jon, see three pics of an MG15 gunner pouch. Designed to be attached to the plane's interior. Perhaps the early MG pouch in the Pz II was attached in a similar way...?

                Hello Jon,

I'm back after 10 days without an internet connection at home..

Going through my files I have found this pic of what I believe is a PzKpfw III D. It almost clearly shows what seems to be some leather case similar to what you are looking for (right of the pic). Hope this is it...You'll have to complete the pic with a bit of imagination. Anyhow, if you're not making a very early PzKpfwII, I would suggest you used the metal MG Werkzeug box instead of the leather case...just my opinion.

                Marry Christmas,

                Carles

                  Morning Carles,

Thanks for continuing the search, I have had no success, other than the images that I have posted previously. I can see me having to use the later metal version but it would nice to eventually find complete images, details of the original leather version even if it's only for history's sake.

Any chance of letting me have the dimensions for the steel version please?

                  Thanks again,

                  Jon

No prob about dimensions for the metal one. I've got six original and I make wooden fittings sets to complete or restore such boxes. I'm our of home for some days but as soon as I get back home I'll PM you with dimensions.
