T.Z.F. 3a early

Hello folks,

Just arrived a nice TZF3a in green color and low serial.
I assume it is a early issue, as the other ones I saw were all dunkelgelb with high serials.
Needs a good cleaning with lot of surface rust.
Optic is clear, but some flecks to remove.(will have to do a pic with a better background)
Typical panzer sight with triangles, plus a semi circular scale with black pointer, from 0 to 12.

Not in my scope of collection. The second one I see in 10 years, so I was glad to have it and take pictures for reference. As always, need cash for other toys

Very interesting!

This is actually a mid production model, despite the low production number.

I have a question please, the laying reticle, does it have 6 small triangles and one big triangle, or does it have 6 inverted Vs and one big triangle?

I am interested to know to determine the exact production variant of the TZF3a.

They are all full triangles.

What are the specs of the early, mid and late production ?

The TZF3a series can be broken down into 3 main variants:


1st series

color: green
markings: E.LEITZ WETZLAR
laying graticule: 6x small triangles, 1x big triangle

2nd series

color: green
markings: beh
laying graticule: 6x small triangles, 1x big triangle

3rd series

color: tan
markings: beh+ T
laying graticule: 6x inverted v, 1x big triangle, vertical line below the central big triangle

Only rough, not exact:

1st is below around 600 (or even lower)
2nd is about above 600 to about 900
3rd is above 900
