The Saratov Stug, unfortunately greed literally tore this tank apart and destroyed a true time capsule.

just edit the post as found this video with the Tank history, they removed even the engine and many other parts and sold them.
Then painted the hole thing egg yellow, not sure what thos people have in their mind. But propably nothing at all ...

Yes, heartbreaking. But a NordAmericano (me) might not appreciate what the profit motive is to the people who hauled it out of the muck, if indeed there was a profit made by anyone. Finders/keepers. Not criticizing the actions or motives of the finders or whoever ultimately got posession of it. It must have cost dollars/Euros/rubles to dig and tow that thing. A time capsule, a "named"/identified vehicle, yes? Wasn't there a crewman's remains also recovered? Oh well, c'est la guerre. But yeah, it could have been left in its original color. Or maybe not? Would it be a rusty-looking paint job by now if left alone?
