    Another SS License Plate

I would appreciate some opinions on this SS License plate.

I have seen some with the raised / metal lip edge such as this and others
that have just a flat edge with black border, so not too sure if there were
variations or whether one type is 100% sign of a fake or not.

I have seen period images of numerous different styles of SS runes on license plates, so the claim that I have seen elsewhere that there was only one accepted type is completely false.

    All opinions are much appreciated.

              IMO Total fake

The rust must be 6 months...

The vehicle plate is original, the motorcycle plate is a fake as expected.

Both look artificially aged to me, real corrosion and paint degradation just do not look like that. Besides, it looks like they oversprayed the white outline over a black background rather than painting the black numbers on a white background as was done originally: https://bmwr12.net/license-plates/

                  regards,

I have had the vehicle plate compared with known originals from collectors who have numerous examples, including the horde discovered in Karelia some years back and they too exhibit the same characteristics that your are finding fault with.
I have had sufficient good feedback on the vehicle plate.

The second paragraph in the website you linked basically contradicts your statement...

"With so many variations in hand painting of plates this was not always followed but it is a good rule of thumb"

This was definitely the case as I have seen from viewing literally hundreds of period images of vehicles and plates and
                      the seemingly endless variations.

The motorcycle front plate I am in complete agreeance with as it does not look close to the originals.
