    Panzer Regiment 23 help needed

    Hi Guys,

Just did a search on this site in an effort to find some information on Panzer Regiment 23 but for some reason there is no info available

    http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...Gliederung.htm

I was wondering if somebody could provide me with an answer to the following questions

    1. Who was the "Abteilungs Kommandeur" in Augst 1944, besides his name a signature would me most helpfull.

    2. What would have been the feldpostnummer of Pz Rgt 23 at that same date

    Many thanks in advance

    KR

      Dear Ian

Thanks very much for your quick and detailed reply

I now understand that my first question is difficult to answer. The doc Im trying to research is signed by Hauptman & Abt Kdr. Stupid thing is that the unit is decribed as Rgt.Stab./Panzer-Regiment 23, so not mentioning an abteilungs number.

I suppose that probably makes it difficult if not impossible to determine who would have signed it?

        Philippe,

Can you not post an image?

You say it is signed by a Hptm. u. Abt.Kdr.....but he served with Rgt.Stab.....that should be signed by the Rgt.Kdr.!!!

        What award is it for?

        /Ian

          Dear Ian

It's a bit of a tricky one. I just received it today but already posted the pics I had 2 weeks ago in this thread

          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=88476

I'll make better scans of the stamp and signature this evening.

The complete document apart from the date stamp and Feldpostnumber stamp is a handdrawing. It for sure looks very old but that's about all I'm sure of at the moment.

Wouldn't mind seeing better scans as I am unsure at the moment what to make of it!

In the mean time I will have a dig around for Abt.Kdr. of Pz.Rgt. 23.......

One thing though, even though he is Pz.Rgt., it is for the PAB 25 in Bronze! An award more common for Pz.Gren..........

            Regards, Ian

Rebentisch is pretty detailed regarding commanding officers of the division down to batallion level (even to the ingenius Werkstattkompanie). Unfortunately appointment dates are missing.

Ok Ian (and everybody else who likes to comment) here you go.

I'll start with two scans of the front and back of the doc and than highlight some details. Remember that the doc is about 3 times bigger than what you see on these scans (almost A4 minus 2 cm wide)

If you need to see anything I didn't scan in detail just ask

The number itself is really impossible to read at least for me
