    1944 bmw r75

    Hello all,
New here, so hope this is the correct place.
I'm building a 1/9 scale model of the BMW R75 and hope you can help in my reserch. I've choosen to paint it the colors of te Panzer-Abteilung 508 Werkstatt-Kompanie, Italy 1944. That means that the top coat is Yellow sand (RAL 1002).
    My questions are:
    - What was the usual color of the base coat (primer) used in 1944?
    - Are there any aluminiun body panels or chassis? Or is it plain steel?
    - What kind of terrain would this Companie find in Italy in 1944? Dry, wet, dusty or Muddy, etc?
I want to give the model a worn effect.
    Thanks
    Mishavr

You will find plenty of ref on line. I am restoring a 1938 BMW R12 Flak Reg.9 Condor Legion and have a very well informed contact in Germany who has written an encyclopedia on this model.

The Ral paint codes do not correspond with what was used during the war.

Its poss the undercoat was a red lead primer, which I have seen on orig parts.

So much has been changed on these machines since the war to suit the ego of the post war owners. Military bikes being restored to civilian!

      Hi,

The machine would have left the factory in dunkelgelb Ral 7028, but what the troops did afterwards could be anything.

      No red oxide undercoat.

Aluminium parts were;- engine casing, gearbox casing and differential casing only.

Terrian, could be everything you said

      cheers lennard

I think that this book can be of great help to you, since there are many period photos of that unit, and some in color.

          Thanks guys.
RAL 7028 is the correct color.
After some research I also think that's the only coat applied. It makes sense.
I thank you all for the input.
