Unknown Electrical Box - Pulled out of Freeman Field

    Hey guys,

The Freeman Field dig pulled up a lot of aircraft items...buuuuuuuuut...a lot of flak and heavy weapon parts were also recovered.

This box is 100% German, with the maker code "fxl" on both the inside, as well as molded into the bottom half.

fxl did a lot of MG parts...so I am assuming this is weapons related.

Has a nice coat of red primer, followed by dunkelgelb.

    Thoughts?

Freeman Field is where all the captured German, Italian, and Japanese aircraft were tested during the war. At the end of the war, many of the parts were scrapped (dumped) into a hole.

Some area were dug and many parts came out...like this box. They also pulled out a Fw190 tail section...some engines...some FlaK parts, etc.

Oh, I didn't know that, thanks.

As I mentioned, it is a Luftwaffe item, so better ask at the Luftwaffe sub-forum, if it could be plane part, or at the com sub-forum, if it could be a com system part but doesn't look like a Panzer part to me

100% it is not Luftwaffe...or from an aircraft. 😉

This is a Wehrmacht or ground vehicle item, based on the color alone.

Sorry, I had the impression you were talking about Luftwaffe planes and artifacts, so I thought the L51898 was a typical Luftwaffe inventory L code, my mistake. Luftwaffe L codes were possibly used on Luftwaffe ground equipment. They are mentioned in this thread about a headset with an L38201 code:
