    Tiger #123

    Hi Guys,
    I think that I read somewhere that there was a Tiger numbered 123. Is that true? If so, Did it see service at the eastern front?
    The reason I am asking is that I recsently found a Corgi diecast Tiger painted in a snow camo pattern and with the number 123 on it. For some reason I just seam to remember that there was a Tiger with that number but i don't think it was at the eastern front.

    thanks for your help,
    Greg

    Greg,

    I can't give you any help right now on the question but I seem to remember seeing a photo somewhere of a tiger with that number. As a follow-up, wouldn't it have been possible for more than one tiger to be 123? As various units were equipped with them it seems the same numbering system would have created duplicate numbers.

    Regards,
    Dennis

      Lots of Tigers numbered '123'

      123:

      1 = 1st Company.
      2 = 2nd Platoon.
      3 = 3rd tank.

      First number is Company (1,2 or 3)
      Second number is the plattoon in the company (1,2 or 3)
      Third number is the number of the tank in the platoon (1,2,3 or 4)

        Thanks for the info.
        As you can tell- I am not very knowedgable about Armoured history. I just like tanks. I have a dozen little diecast tanks, mainly Tigers but also a Panzer and Panther and some Shermans.

        Thanks again
        Greg
