Marking in the German tanks - Poland 1939.

Hello to all ; a little query.............................

Marking in the German tanks - Poland 1939.

AFAIK during this campaign, the German tanks carried the Balkan cross in white, but I've seen some pictures showing the Balkan cross in black and white like the 1940's style as early as the beginning of the Polish campaign (see below). I think that the Pz Abt 33 within the 4. Le Div carried that marking. What do you think about?............

Isn't it more likely that the information written on the back is simply wrong?

on this picture a see a normal early white cross, not with black.
And it's a Balkenkreuz, not a balkancross thats something completely different

      best regards

I think its indeed Poland 1939. During the french campaign 1940 the "Balkenkreuz" was actually painted on hull side an not on the turret.

                          Numbering in the turrets.

Hello to all ; a little more..............................

                          Numbering in the turrets.

Usually the numbering on the tanks had three figures (company, platoon and tank) but in this case these Pz Kw II carried only two (company and platoon?). Any idea which unit had this type of numbering (two digits)?
