Mercedes-Benz L3000S

The backbone of the German supply machine, especially on the various fronts was the 3 ton capacity transport vehicle. The Mercedes-Benz L 3000 S is classified as a medium transport (o) . the L 3000 A as a medium all-terrain transport (o). The L 3000 S ( 1939 to 1944 ) was derived from the LGF 3000 ( 1938/1939 ); the L 3000 A ( 1939- 1942 ) stemmed from the LGF 3000/2 ( 1939 ).
In spite of the fact that the L 3000 A used fuel ( 20-30 Liters of Diesel per 100 Km ), productiom was halted in favor of the Opel Blitz 3,6- 6700 A ( 30-40 liters of gasoline per 100 Km ).
Among other considerations the reasons for this were the 700 Kg higher emty weight of the L 3000 A , problems with its Diesel motor at lower temperatures, and the greater maintenance time needed for diesels.
In line with the practice of commonality,Daimler-Benz manufactured approximately 8000 Mercedes-Benz L701 ( licence -built Opel Blitz 3,6-36 vehicles ) by the War's end.
Technical Data: Daimler-Benz OM 65/3 from 1939 OM 65/4 its the Vorkammer Diesel engine 4850 cc OM 65/3 70 bhp, OM 65/4 75 bhp .
the car has a 5 gear box. top speed 70 km/ h.
We restored a Mercedes-Benz L 3000 S SLG and planned to write a thread of it.
