I don't think it has anything to do with a sight. At least Kwk40 sight went in a different box. Perhaps not partitions but fittings are missing, as there are some screw holes around the box. Measurements 41cm x18cm x 12cm.

Here's a pic of a Kwk40 sight and box. As you can see, it is made of wood and dimensions are much different.

Here's another one. Seems interior is not original, as the metal clips on the sides are missing.

Putting several pics together seems the stencil reads: Drahtwischer
I believe it would translate as Wire brush, or similar. Perhaps the wooden block in the previous post is original to the box.

Perhaps it should be like this...but with a wire brush and some other contents.

Curiously, I have found another one here:

              http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=468497

This one is for a StuKa, 7,5 cm Sturmkanone 40, so for a StuG or similar vehicle, while mine is for a 7,5cm Kwk 40, so for a PzKpfw IV, even though the brush would be the same model. On this box you can clearly see the stencil is Drahtwischer

did anyone ever confirm that this is what the brush for the 7,5 looked like? I've had a hell of a time actually finding that information

                  hello FE26,

That brush has appeared in a couple of forums, WAF included, and I have seen this same kind in some modeller's web:

                  http://ccbuckeye.com/pz_tools_1.htm

                  http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=471944&page=8

See pics in posts 4, 10 and 13. Those are the closest pics I could get. Anyhow, it should be a general model in the Wehrmacht, so it might be depicted in some arty manual.

Yes please. If it can help to confirm this is the right model.

                          Thanks a lot Nemps!!!

This seems to confirm it is the correct cleaning brush for German artillery, model used with 7,5cm guns. Now, it doesn't mean it was the content of the metal box but there is a good chance it is, or similar.

Does any one have a spare couple of these??? In good condition, with all the poles and for a good price, of course

                            hello gents,

Back to this thread. I have just spotted this box. It is not the exact model but seems to be same concept, for a cleaning brush. The stencil clearly states it is for a steel brush.

The interior would be similar also.
