I'm trying to get any information on what the JPIVs of the SS-Panzerjager Abt 12 looked like in July/August of 1944 in the Normandy front.
Plenty of information of the actions in the Norbert Szamveber book "Waffen-SS Armour in Normandy" but there are no images of the vehicles and no mention of the camouflage used and or any markings. Working on a JagdPzIV in 1/6 scale now. I generally make my vehicles somewhat generic, so I can use them in more than one unit. Have images of PzLehr JPIVs, but the actions of 1. and 2./SS-Panzerjager Abt 12 in general, and those of Rudolph Roy are so impressive, that for sure one of my crews will be a representation of him as his crew. Have been looking around for images and there is nothing documented even in the modeling community.
In the Szamveber book it mentions that Roy was a platoon commander in the 1./SS-Panzerjager Abt 12, but it does not mention what platoon it was.
The unit arrived in Normandy with few vehicles, and it seemed they used what vehicles were available and was constantly changing and far from "regulation" in 1./ and 2./, so maybe the best bet is to avoid any numbers on the model.
Many of the JPIV models I have seen have no numbers on the sides...
Thanks in advance for any insights on what these tank hunters looked like in real life.
