Your post confirms my point.
This started off as an interesting thread asking an interesting question.
Unfortunately, as happens sometimes on these forums, this one has decended into a squabble between two egos with no knowledge of this actual piece and no desire to back down and appear impotent in the process.
Wether or not an individual could fake a similar piece does not change wether this actual piece is genuine, or fake.
Perhaps the parties involved would better spend their time researching this actual piece, rather than conducting an on-line childish argument from which they find it difficult to walk away.
SF.

PZ and I obviously hold the same trade background and yet we have different views on the subject, so what no big deal.
If all threads were as boring as the posts you put up what a dismal place this would be.
No need to have your serious head on all the time SF take the stick out of your
a## and you might feel better.

I have been working with thanks, both modern and historical for a long time and I have seen lot of genuine battle damaged tanks used on ranges during the years and I say it it almost impossible to make a replica of such a part as the one in the pictures. To create the damages to the weldings and the cracks is not possible without the enormous impact caused by a hit.
It is a genuine part of something, it does not have to be a tank, but it had an explosion or a hit from a shell, that is for sure.
The thickness of the plate and the shape and location of the weldings and the small block welded in the corner would give enough leads to figure out if it is from a Tiger or another tank.
What is a bit odd is the paint, if it would have been in the ground for 60 years I think there would be much more rust. But it could have been found 50 years ago and kept inside since then.
So where did this piece end up?

Hi,
I have been involved in a loooooooooot of restorations...and have seen a LOT of wrecked bits in person all over Poland, and Eastern Europe.
I can tell you 100% that this is a legit item...
What I cannot tell you, is where or not it is from a Tiger.
So that decision would be at your discretion.
