    Panzer Lehr Batallion in ROMANIA

hello I have this photo depicting the barracks of the "panzer lehr batallion".
The caption on the back reads in German "our barracks in TARGOVISTE (a town in Romania).
It came with a long barrelled Mark 3 photo and a photo of a large unit of german panzer men parading on the barracks square.
I am just wondering what German panzer unit was stationed there during the war. From my own research I can only establish that TARGOVISTE was a base for Romanian motorised units. (probably with German instructors ?)
The troops at the gates of this barracks are in Wehrmacht uniform. The barracks name is CAZARMA MARASTI.
Note that the tank graphic on top of the gates appears to be a Romanian T4 tank.

    here is the photo:

    Thanks for any help.

Hope I can help you with this...

Sorry, it took me a day to answer, because I had to create an account first!

The only Panzer-Lehr troops I found in Romania is the 13.PanzerDiv. , but the website don´t talk about a specific town, just Romania.

Okay, first 2 links in German:

    Link1 Link2 (Both lead to lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de)

First I wanted to translate it for you (don´t know if you understand German), but then I found a link in English too :

    Link3 (leads to feldgrau.com)

There were some units that was shortly stationed in Romania which you can find using "Heeresmission Rumaenien" or "Heeresmission Rumänien" (with German a-umlaut) as a keyword for searches in google. But the only Panzer-Lehr unit in Romania I found was the 13.Panzerdivision. Looks like there was not only the germans, but also the romanians stationed there with the 1st Armoured Division - subunit: 1st Armoured-Training Division located at the Moto-mechanized Training Center of Targoviste. So looks like this was a training camp where german troops teached the romanians how to handle the Panzer III + IV which they recieved from Germany as T3 (Pzkpfw III Ausf. N) + T4 (Pzkpfw IV Ausf. G).

Whooo just found another 2 links that may be helpfull for you:

Link4 (leads to worldwar2.ro) - the same link in Romanian language!

    Link5 (leads to forum.axishistory.com) - A story about
Lt. Ion S. Dumitru - a Romanian tank ace (the name Targoviste is highlighted!)

Hope this helps you a bit for researching this a bit deeper...
