Car/vehicle tool box?

Hi, got this at the flea market last week, but today found time ti make pictures. I want to find out, what it is? I guess it is a box for tools or small spares from a vehicle. But what vehicle? Car or truck? Civillian or military? It is not a big box.

I have a clue for the manufacturer, on the bottom are stamped four rings, the emblem of the former Auto Union /nowadays the emblem of Audi/. Under it written 224905-0.

On the top is written this: Werkzeug u Ersatztele, fur Maschinensetz ?66???400... something like this. /maybe it is for some kind of machine, not vehicle? /

Inside there is a paper label, unfortunately not very well preserved. This label makes me think that the box is for spare parts, because seems to give a list of different parts contained, each with its catalogue number. A part of two are "Bosch". Here are some of the words written, unfortunately not a complete row is preserved. Some words are: Ersatzsteile; Mitnehmergummi ... nge und Haupt?ho?se; Hauptdusa Nr. 55; "Zundkerze"; ...Bosch W225 Ti; Kohleoursen und...; zum Generator; halter; 1 Tube Calypsol; Reiningungstilz; Dop. eischraubenschluss... etc. etc. Some words make me think, is it possible to be a box for small spoare parts for the popular during the WWII gas generators?

Hi Theodor , The stamped four rings is indeed of the former Auto Union , DKW,
and today Audi.
But in the years of the war; Auto Union used the four rings ,but in the rings was the name AUTO UNION as emblem.
The Auto-Union was the combination of the firms Audi , DKW, Horch, and Wanderer grounded in 1932.
The four firms used the four-rings emblem with the name Auto Union in the rings, but Audi used the number one 1 on top of the radiator, Wanderer used the letter W and Horch the big letter H with on the H the name HoRcH.
Afther the war the name Auto Union was removed out the four rings.
Werkzeug u (und) Ersatzteile für Machinensatz means: Tools and Spareparts for Transportable Generator.

Ersatzteile; Spareparts, Mitnehmergummi; String-rubber, Hauptduse; mainsprayer, Zundkerze; Sparplug , Bosch 225 is a type Sparkplug, Kohleoursen ;carbon-brusch, zum; to . Generator is the same, halter is holder, reinigungsstilz;cleaning-liquid, einschraubenschlüss..el sort of tool-key.

I think it is a mainenance box from post-war generator possible DKW or Auto-Union.

Thank you very much for the information, Hans! I wish the paper label was better shape preserved. Well, will sit well in some of the many oldtimer cars, that I will have /some day /
