Help with Wehrmacht 3 ton hoist

I recently won a European auction for a 3 ton hoist. It looks to be from WW2 and German. The seller is selling it as a tool for panzers, but I haven't been able to confirm this. At 3 tons, it wouldn't move many tanks. It might be good for removing an early turret or an engine. Or even pulling the tracks off or onto a tank.

I've run into one problem however. The seller didn't calculate international shipping correctly (he didn't expect to get a US buyer). And instead of $80, shipping is more like $500 as the hoist is about 60kgs.

Does anyone have any input on what this hoist might have really been used for? 3 tons sounds ideal for aircraft and light cars. So-so for panzers.

Lastly, does anyone have any input on getting items from Germany that are this heavy?

(give me a second and I'll upload photos)

    From the auction:

Leichtmetall Hebezug 3 to mit Wehrmacht Hersteller Kennzeichen "fbh" (Gebr. Kerner, Transportanlagen, Suhl).

    Viel Erfolg !

Alloy hoist with 3 tons Wehrmacht imprint "fbh" (Gebr Kerner, transportation equipment, Suhl). From a stock clearance, has been lying unused since the 70s and dry on a shelf in a warehouse and is therefore in a good condition in the original Wehrmacht paint with nice patina.

The timing chain is unfortunately no longer there, but still can be easily retrofitted.

The loosely enclosed lever is forced operation for the missing timing chain.

Due to the weight of about 60 - kilograms. I hit a shipping timber on a disposable pallet by freight carrier for 55, - EUR within Germany before.

Alternatively shipping like to request of the buyer or pick up spot in D-32791 Lage (Lippe). Deliveries outside of Germany like to vote.

Report any further questions, just briefly.

    Good luck!

On the data plate looks to be an FL code, which are normally seen used by the Luftwaffe for Luftwaffe items?

          I think you're right.

Could a mod move this thread to the "Luftwaffe Flying Corps: Uniforms, Traditions, and Equipment" board? Or can I just remake it?

I agree I would say a winch for aircraft or ground equipment, maybe for pulling items into planes?
