No, only for 2 cm Kw K 30.

            Yeah, you're right.

            TZF4 b was for 5cm KWK 39.

            What's in a little letter....

Pz.Kpfw.II turret used on a concrete bunker

                    Hello Sniprat,
This is a wonderful piece that you found. The full story is that this is a TZF 4 from a Pz.Kpfw. Turm II (Normalserie). After the Pz.Kpfw. II became obsolete the turrets were completed or repaired for mounting on concrete bunkers. Pz.Kpfw.II turrets still mounted on the normal tank superstructure roof were mounted on a Bauform 229 where as those with a new 8 side baseplate for the turret was bolted to the Bauform 231.

The designation T II M No 34 provides even more history. The T II M was a series of 58 turrets repaired under contact at the big repair works of M.A.N in Nürnberg, 49 of which were for Bauform 229 and 9 were for Bauform 231.
The date 1942 and the south of France location certainly fits as so many of these turrets were emplaced along the coast and on the Pyrenees.

If you are interested in more information you might like to get a copy of our Panzer Tracts No.21-1 which cover the topic of turrets mounted on bunkers. For information about the Nürnberg Panzer Factory (M.A.N.) Panzerwecks will shortly publish an excellent book on this topic by Roddy MacDougall.

Carles, the sight used in the SdKfz222 and later vehicles with Hangelafette 38 was the TzF 3a. Only survivor I've seen of this is on the Littlefield vehicle.

Another thing you might want to check on that box. Those holes are the exit holes for wood-boring beetles or "powder-post" beetles....when you see those little holes in wood, and minute dust keeps showing up around there....that means the little bugs have already left and are out and about your home....

just saying. when you see those little holes all over your cases, start treating the wood with recommended pesticide. which means more to you - the box or your home?
I have two of these similar TZF boxes (empty) but the holes are the same....those weren't made by people throwing darts. That TZF 4 box is infested deep within with larvae.

Yep, it needs urgent treatment, or you will lose your box and your furniture

If TZF4 was for a Pz II, which tank was the TZF4a used in? Was that perhaps also for the PzII, but for the later model with the KwK 38, instead of the KwK 30?
