    German Ford truck in... Tunisia!

    Hello,

met this "old truck" by the road in Tunisia, which appeared to belong to Rommel's band.

I have many questions about it:

    - what type is it exactly? (I think a V3000 4X4 but not sure)
    - is it worth restoring it?
    - are spare parts avalaible somewhere?

    Regards

Yes, nice find! And for sure it should be recovered as it is a piece of history.

And although in not the best state it looks relatively complete from technical side (at least the gearbos is visible, the axles too) and it is still restorable ...

The main problem with this Ford is an economic problem! When found in central Europa it would be worth some 1.000 € - at least some were advertised during the years for up to 6.000 € in a similar condition. But I don`t know how much it would take to recover the remains and foreward them to Europe...

If you want to keep it in the country it could become really hard to find spares - here in Germany at least engine parts are available from time to time as the engine was still build in post war times...

          Jens

Should be saved! and if there is no budget for the restoration at least saved 'as found" ( in this condition ) as a relic of DAK service

Great find. A tough restoration, but anything is possible. I personally would at least buy it and store it until someone brave enough to restore this came along. This piece of history needs to be saved!

                  thank you for your comments!

I do agree, this is a real piece of History and it has to be at least stored waiting for restoration or a cheap opportunity to ship it back to Europe.

I fear original parts will be impossible to find here in Tunisia and my knowledge about what the missing parts look like is poor...

It would be great to see it back on wheels!

                  Regards

what about the type of this truck? Is it a V3000 or not? Troop transport?
