    quite possible

The US Army in Iraq recently liberated a WW II Sherman tank that the Iraqis had been keeping hostage. It is being shipped back to the US.

      Mark,

Do you have a link to this story? This is along the lines of the WW1 French tank that was found in Afghanistan recently, and it too is being shipped back here.

          Hello,

The Syrian Army operated a number of Mk IVs (H/Js I believe) that were dug in in static positions on the Golan Heights in 1967. Most were knocked out in the '67 war - years later I remember seeing one or two (juxtaposed with knocked out Syrian T34/85s as well). Doubt they had any Panthers - and don't know if any Mk IVs survived. Cheers,

          Mike

            Hi.

Do you have pictures of PzIV from Syria?
I didn't hear about Panthers, only about PZIV and Jagdpanzers L/48 ( I have 2 pictures of them).

            Best regards

Sorry - didn't take any pictures however Herzog's "The Arab-Israeli Wars" has a picture of a Mk IV destroyed at Tawfiq (pg. 161).

Last I heard the Israelis had the captured Syrian Stug and PZ IV's in the Latrum war museum. Never heard of a Panther being used, but you never know.

I've got some pics of the Syrian armor I found a few years ago on the net if anyone wants me to post them.

                    Hey Brian,
Post Them!! As for the Panther issue. I have never heard of a Panther in Syria.
Certainly there is ample evidence of their use of the MkIVs on the Golan and a couple of JgdPnzr IV's as well. But no Panthers.
