          Pretty good use of a vehicle with negigeable historical value.

          It will return many times its value in terms of work that it can do.

          Looks like it is in the logging industry.

          Newly made equipment costs tremendous amounts.

          A lot of the old 251s and others went on to be of use in similar manners.

          There was little interest in any of that stuff until the last 20 yeaqrs or so.

          There is a pic of a Panther chassis with a big crane on it.

          Swords to plowshares.

              For a long time the civil reuse and conversion was the only posibillity for obsolescent military vehicles/ equipment to survive ... today it is still a posibillity as the will to hoard vehicles recently phased out is not so big in collectores comunity... . These days its a little better as "we" have the wealth to keep a second or third (...) vehicle in the householde just to have fun in the offroad park etc . But even today this secures onla "useful" or "funny" objects from dying out... everything else is still scrapped in large numbers....
