    Sdkfz 250/5 for sale

That was a nice restored Sdkfz 250 for sale. Was it a bargain? Looks like it sold for Kettenkrad price.

...the price may reflect that this is one of the former Arlon museum vehicles which are said to be mostly good looking reconstructions using some original components and many square meters of plywood or sheet metal to replace missing superstructure. Also none of the vehicle should be runners - looking to the engine bay picture the Maybach does not look complete too...

I own an original 250 and examined this one in Indiana for an entire day, inside and out. Someone was taken to the cleaners for 93,000. The front nose plate and front visor section was original, the rest fake except for the roadwheels which are wasted and the track which has track pads ive never seen before. Im not even sure this was on a Demag D7 chassis, as the rusted sheet metal concealed most of the underside, and I could only see in part of it. The swingarms it appears to be, welded to some sort of a frame. The engine is pretty much stripped out. If this person plans to have it move under its own power, they have to pretty much start from scratch. Even the visors are fake. I have about 200 photos of this vehicle as well. We needed a template of the front nose, which we got but the rest was useless.

Pictures of mine is on the Surviving SDKFZ 250 site, in the condition we purchased it in. It is now completely in sections, we are currently replacing the flat portion of the hull, the curved section under the engine was completely intact and very little pitting thanks to the leaking oil preserving it. im not the best on photos, but I will upload the new fenders we had made off an original set along with the muffler, etc.

I need a set of front wheels, same as flak trailer, pak36, etc. The set we have is pretty poor condition.

Some parts after sandblasting. All will be finished in red oxide.

Great project! What is the condition of your engine?

Please post other pics now & then! The Febuary 2012 edition of 'Military Machines International' magazine had a feature on the restoration of the Crompton Collection's 250/3.

THe entire head area is great, almost new. The sleeves will be replaced, we have six unissued ones. We still need a water pump. We need inner road wheels, as ours are almost beyond repair. I have all new condition outer wheels.
