Could it be a Panzer unit symbol?

    Hello,

What do you think...some time ago I bought this EUa4 Unformer. Wen I got it I realised it had a strange circle on the cover. I thought someone had left a pot of solvent on it and had damaged the paint...but...

I have 'painted' it a bit. See that there are some flakes of white paint left in the symbol area. It looks like a bear to me. Could it be a unit symbol?

just an hypothesis, maybe a rhino ?

Yes, it could be a rhino! That part of the head is missing so I thought it could be a bear, but the rhino fits also

I was thinking, if a rhino is 'nashorn' in german and that's the symbol of the unit...is there any chance that the Sturmgeschütz Abteilng 393 was armed with 88mm Nashorns?

no, this unit only had sturmgeschütze.
Nashorn were normaly only used in s.Panzerjäger Abt.

and the Nashorn would be equipped with a different Umformer, SEua as it used the FuSprech d as the radio, not the UKWe.

Thanks derka and Nick for the info, so it possibly went in a StuG III then.
