British Infantry tanks with Ap only?

In the Ferdinand thread there was an interesting point about brit tanks with AP only. I've always wondered about this. As the early brit tanks were designed for infantry support what is the addle-brained logic behind having AP only cannon? I'm guessing that they figured that their tanks would kill tanks and the infantry would kill infantry? What a waste of tactical flexibility. So much for combined arms huh? I guess that's the early mentality of the British High Command, Infantry being the "queen of the battlefield' and all that 'pip-pip & tally-ho' nonsense. What a bunch of myopic, tea-swilling, obtuse fuddy-duddies! I guess a couple of good ol' fashioned blitzkrieg arse-kickings from the brave soldaten of the glorious Panzertruppe changed their tune and right quick!

    hmm...
verging on a anti-british rant there panzerboy. problems with high command existed in every military
(the germans not being able to move armour on d-day 'cause hitler was sleeping and didn't want to be woken )
it's just a shame the common foot slogger has to live(or die) with this.
truly soldiers are lions lead by donkeys

Verging? No, it was an Anti-british rant!

I'm sorry Stirling, maybe I did'nt insult the British High command enough to make it evident that I hold thier antiquated tactical beliefs in scorn and ridicule! I have always had a problem with the way the stuffy old-school english field marshalls and generals held out from the 'fresh wind' of mobile armoured warfare, especially after the horrors of WWI. Many a young english soldier had to perish before those stupid arses woke up from their little napoleonic dream world and realized there was more to warfare than massive artillery barrages and follow-up infantry and cavalry charges. Since my grandfather (god rest his soul) served in the commonwealth forces in Europe in the Canadian 1st army, I find it hard to insult the bravery of your average commonwealth foot-soldier. What I do find easy to insult however, is the conduct by the early-war soldiering of those high rank English commanders. Sorry if I've offended you i any way, but it's my firm opinion. No comment as to the why of English Armour with AP only? That was my original point!

Maybe there is no comment because

        A: British armour had HE
B: The issue is already underdiscusion in another thread http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...t=57449&page=2
