Sorry but the only panzer that would use that was the 'panzernest lafette' in a bunker. It's for an MG34 fortress mount. Have a look for the MG34 in the following link:

It usually happens that 'Panzer' called optics are never for panzers but for bunkers.

        Hello,

Just for info - don't mix Schartenlafette (as in link above) with Panzernest lafette - these are two very different things.

          Hello herring,

I mean a 'panzernest lafette', the one in pic #8 in the first post in that link. Just in case, have a look here:

          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=bunker+mg34

          That is what I mean

            Hello.

This is not a Panzernest lafette. It's Schartenlafette 34, used with MG34, for Panzerplatten (e.g. 78P9), Dreischartenturmen (e.g 60P8) and Sechsschartenturmen (e.g 20P7) in various bunkers in multiple german fortified lines. And, as you mean this lafetee - you're right, the optics is from this one.

Panzernest , a mobile steel bunker, had a very different lafette, for both MG34 and MG42. It was pretty simple, didn't use any additional optics, only MG's own sights.

Somehow, a name Panzernestlafette seems to be wrongly used by some authors (e.g.Myrvang does) - Germans in their instructions don't use this name referring to this exact lafette.

I see, so we are refering to the same thing but with a mistaken name on my side. Indeed, because I got the name from Folke Myrvang's book. Thanks for clarifying.

What is interesting, very last picture from Myrvang's book described as a Panzernest lafette, is a Panzernest lafette indeed (he described that as untypical one). But, it'a bit diffefent one, than these which can be seen in real bunkers. I think it's a prototype.
