I'm not holding my breath for this fantasy movie, but hopefully these very excellent panzer replicas will be used in future WW2 films. That's what excites me about this project.

Disregarding yet another graphic novel translated into a movie do you honestly think anyone in their right mind would produce/Direct (insert attach their name to) a movie that depicts the Germans as anything other than failing at war, as delusional or defeatist, ardent National Socialist with the grand finale being everything or everyone being killed in the end? Downfall, Das Boot, Die Brucke, Stalingrad, The Bunker, nearly everyone dies always, etc and etc. The end must be total and those bad guy Nazis just have to pay or it wont get made. See the pattern? Even 'Inglorious Basterds' as campy as it was is a clue in to the mentality and pattern concerning a film dealing with Germans in WW2. If anything 'Inglorious Basterds' captured the absurdity of how film approaches WW2.

I suspect the tone of this, in terms of how we view the protagonists, will be much more in the mould of 'Das Boot'. We're with a German army tank crew facing a supernatural horror - the audience *needs* to be on the side of the crew here. Therefore they won't be Nazis, they'll be regular army fighting the retreat out of Russia. In fact, the premise of the film is that they stumble across the remains of a Jewish village that has been annihilated by the SS and which has awakened a supernatural entity. So in this case, Nazis and entity = bad, tank crew = good.

I enjoy just seeing Panzer IV´s and Tigers and all the other hardware in this scifi project.I can watch scifi or realistic war movie any day, zombies or monsters together with tanks does not affect my view experience at all.
You either like scifi or not, simple as that.

Well I´m no Spielberg and If I made one I´m sure no one wanted to watch it as it would be lame acting as I would have to play all the roles myself as I can´t afford paying people the dole for playing the roles
But to be honest I would prefer a historical movie rather than a horror movie but that is just my opinion or maybe it is just me getting old ?

I´m sure you are right on Hollywood would never dare to touch a story from the German side, unless they make sure to give all the German soldiers vampire teeths except a few heroic ones perhaps who saves a GI from being eaten alive of the rest of the Germans..... I guess political correctness are to be thanked.
German movies like Der untergang and Stalingrad, are recommended by the way....great movies.

Anyone remember Michael Mann's 'The Keep' that featured excellent original vehicles, great uniforms of both Gebirgsjäger and SS-SD? That was a supernatural film as well. The same concept of evil coming to a village re-awakening some ancient demon that enacts revenge is not new. The same predictable outcome for zee Germans.Last edited by Lloyd I.; 08-31-2011, 09:54 AM.
