I have a friend who owns an original WWII German Pak 38 5 cm anti-tank cannon, and he is thinking about selling it. It was captured in North Africa and spent years outside as a monument, it has since been restored with new paint. Some small parts had to be fabricated, others may be missing, but it has the original tires, lots of WaA stamps and manufacturer codes, the traverse and elevation still work, and it has the original third wheel attachment which retains some original paint. The gun has been deactivated with the breech welded solid. The vision ports are functional, the recoil mechanism probably is not. It shows a couple minor bullet hits that are original battle damage from the war. He had mentioned looking to sell it to a reenactment group but I suggested it might be better off in the hands of a collector. Unfortunately I wouldn't know the first thing about looking for buyers for something like this so I am looking for advice to pass along to my friend. Any input about potential selling venues, values, etc. would be appreciated. I have attached a photo of the gun set up at a display along with a truck my friend also owns, I can post more pictures of the gun if that is needed. Thanks in advance for any help with this.
