1. What model of tank is this?
2. For what does S23108 number stand?

23108 is the unique "fahrgestellnummern", effectively the chassis number.

Gran Sasso and steverobertsbbc thanks for your answers! But how can be explained painting "fahrgestellnummern" on wrecked tank?

Maybe fresh out of the factory and into battle before there was a chance to repaint it? I notice there's no turret number or Balkenkreuz visible either. One might suspect a training exercise if it wasn't for the grave markers in the foreground.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along to help shortly!

Once I heard that these numbers were painted by units that collected destroyed tanks and vehicles from battlefields but do not know is this information correct or not.

Its a number put there, by the people who registered the tank as a loss. there is a thread on www.PanzerArchiv.de with hundreds of tanks with these numbers.
