    Panther ID

    Hello guys,
    I've recently picked up this photo showing PzKpfw V Panther Ausf.D (it comes from a large grouping, which belonged to the Panzerfahrer from my town).
    There is no tactical number/ unit marking, but I can see: 8112 13 on the left fender (serial number?)
    Is it possible to identify it ?
    Thank you in advance

    Regards.

    If it's 211213 (rather than 811213) and if that is the actual Fahrgestell number (seems like an odd place to put it and upside down!), then it's one of the 250 Panther Ausf D made by Daimler Benz. Built in August 1943.

    Edit: Actually, I've just found another picture of this very machine in Jentz's 'Germany's Panther Tank', page 42, which confirms the above. The picture shows it later, wearing tactical number 203 on the turret.

        Pzv;

        That is one of the first batch of Panthers produced. It has the small left side turret loaders hatch, early Tiger 1 type commander's cupola, early style road wheels although 1 is the later production style with the extra outer rim bolts that became standard in production. It also has full front fenders, etc. Nice photo & thanks for sharing, Dirk

          Thanks for all replies
          I think that the photo was taken in Panzertruppenschule I Wünsdorf.
          Do you have any other photos, which could prove that ?

          Regards.
