Piotr as you can see you will be attacked by the boys who are loath to be parted from their toys. Stick to your guns and ignore those who question everyone's motives but there own.
You have posted documents that are pretty convincing.

These WW2 machines are problematic items always.

Same thing was with ex-finnish airforce Brewster Fighter plane which were lifted from lake in russia(old finnish territory of Karelia).Russian greedy local goverment officials sold it to US business man who had bags full of dollars.

Finnish team made the work to locate it,lift it and russians sold it to US...

      Thats how it works.

It’s a shame Piotr, as you have a good opportunity to expand why you think the JL Panther should be returned in its restored condition and why now.
I am sure many of us here are open to listen to you and are prepared to understand why you think this is the right thing to do.
At the moment your single ‘Cultural’ argument is a little hard to believe as the prime motive, be it legal or not.

I know we have no right to push you to answers questions but could I ask that you discus it at least? I am open to persuasion to your cause.

                Habeas Corpus.

What a joke! Am I correct in thinking that this now beautiful restored tank was the one pictured lying on it's side in a scrapyard when it was just a rusty empty hull. Now some smart arsed lawyer wants it back in its fully restored condition (I think there is an Eagles song that has the right idea about how to deal with a lot these people ) to add to his collection. As others have said how much paperwork would be required to get an object of this size all the way from Poland to the States complete with a rather large gun,we are not talking about some rusty old helmet here are we? One would imagine a hefty amount of paper, I say leave it where it is in its current good home. Regards David.

Seems like it starts to be a lawyer's paradise....
If Piotr finds an equal rival on US side, we may face a 20 next years of finding new documents and laws prooving an absolute right of one of sides to posess a Panther....

Indeed it's close to be a hyperjoke.....

On the other hand - how many % of JL Panther origins from known location in Poland? Apparnetly only a hull - turret seems to be new made, a front casted part is original, rest is welded from new sheets, back turret hatch in a new one too.

I think that best way is to take neither US side, nor Polish side, but ...Panther's side. What location is the best to preserve this Panther as a heritage of all the humanity?

Well stated, and excellent line of reasoning.
Unfortunately, it would appear that $$ and prestige outweigh, by far, all other considerations.

I received the request of Piotr for placing his point of view :

My action in the matter of the tank is not having anything to do with my private collection of vehicles. Police are conducting legal proceedings in the matter, not me (at least after my notification). I don't know, whether Polish authorities will take the procedure of the repossession (at least I turned with such a request to the Minister of the Culture, the General monument conservation officer and the Minister of Foreign Affairs). One should demarcate proceedings of Police from the possible the repossession proceedings. No dishonourable intentions are hidden behind my proceedings. The rightful owner of the wreck was a Polish state. I think that the vehicle should come back to Poland. Whether at any time he will come back and where will come back - I don't know.It is not my problem, but of Polish institutions. I don't know mister Littlefield documents. I don't know from whom, when, for how much and what base bought the tank on. Clarifying these issues is a role of Police. And proceedings at present being pending concern it. At the moment nobody is demanding the return of the tank.

                              Piotr "Wars98"

                                He might mean this one.
                                http://com-central.net/index.php?nam...wtopic&t=14004

It hard to say if 'bialy-r's last post is factual but it would appear he is involved with the shadock vehicle register and travels a lot to identify and take pictures. so he may have a good insight in to the MV scene in Poland.

I don't mean to be rude Ohlau but if Piotr says he has no interest in If the Panther is returned or where it goes to, then i dont understand his motives or why he spent the time and effort in chasing the authorities to do something. Sorry but that statement make very little sense to me.

I am also wondering if Piotr Lewandowski "Wars98" is also Piotr Mikołajski who is posting (In much better English) on Axis History forums claiming to be the main instigator of the illegal action?
