Watched one about Pattons push through france. Did Pattons tankers get that good to defeat such a superior foe? (well airpower helps ALOT too) I know how the overwhelming numbers games work, but it really sounds like the German leadership (bad intel maybe??) was at fault for alot of the losses. Also they talk about the Hellcat TD & it's 76m gun punching holes in panzers where the Shermans failed. Was the type of gun combined with the sports-car like performace on the Hellcat that good against the best Hitler had to offer? Appearently ANY size AT round could flame a Hellcat with it's 1 inch armor. Anybody research the operational history of the Hellcat ? & was it really a game changer in WW2?

Tank battles
I have watched all of them so far and I would say that they are pretty good overall... I do have one complaint in that they are a bit one sided.
I watched the one where they covered Normandie and it was mainly about the Canadians and their battles. They did not mention any of the great German tank aces like Michael Wittmann, Ernst Barkmann, etc...
I know you can't cover everything in a 1 hour program but how can you have a show called "Greatest Tank Battles" and never mention these guys?
Just my 2 cents....

Well, you're talking about a Discovery produced series so you are going to get inaccuracies. These are the same people behind military titles on the Malmedy Massacre that feature zero footage of Peiper despite it being readily available. Heck I've got living footage of Peiper on youtube. Not like it's hard to find.
Video Game companies are better in this respect than film/tv production companies because they will take the time to interview, go over maps and get the historical component correct before giving it to an artist to render.
These kinds of productions are right in line with those that declare the M4 Sherman a winner because of mass production not technical aspect or the M16 the better rifle.

I haven't gotten to see many of them, including "SS Panzers Attack" about the Ardennes, but thanks to my bro Geoff I know about some scenes in that one. If you watch that one, remember this guy as you watch Tiger 105 of s. SS-Pz.Abt. 501 back up into the house in Stavelot.
I saw part of the episode about 73 Easting in the Gulf War - the events seemed pretty accurate from what has been reported, but the CGI makes the ranges seem much too close. There was some close-range tank main gun engagement as E Troop 2/2 ACR attacked the initial Iraqi positions, but not at 50 feet like the show makes it look.
I thought the episode about the Yom Kippur War was good, especially the interviews with Avigdor Kahalani.
Best,
Greg
