Were german track links being painted?

    Hi.

    That is my question.
I mean the factory painting of course, not camouflage.

    ??

    Pozdrawiam.

      Possibly spare track links.
I think that they were only primed in red. But spare tracks should be painted in base color as most of the on vehicle equipment.

My StuG.III track links have some remnants of dark yellow paint, hence, they probably were used as spare track links and overpainted when the whole vehicle was painted. Red primer remnants were underneath the yellow paint.

            Tiger track link

            Interesting thread.
Had a Pzkw4 track link some time ago, it too was painted in that same blue colour
Noticed the restored Jagdpanther tracks..see pic below..had been Phosphated I think, not quite black..not quite dark grey ?.

Wondered whether to paint my Chevroned Tiger-1 track link, which would also stop it from rusting.
            Any thoughts at all ?.
            Regards all..Ian "feind-hort-mit".

Rather than painting it maybe a coat of oil would be a better choice.... just my opinion
