                Cut and taken by the srapmen ....just like the engine deck and Maybach engine
                The rest of the hull was already sunken to deep in the riverbank to be victim of the cuttingtorch

                        yes that is stated in the article but imho seems very unlikely.
                        repairing agricultural machinery with panzer steel
                        and what are they going to do with a V12 Maybach engine?....put it in one of there tractors to do tractorpulling anno 1945
                        of course they could have pulled the Stug out of the mud with their pimped tractor ....but they dind't

                        scrap metal always had a certain value because it could be recycled
