    Will someone be kind enough to ID this pin for me? I see there are traces of red and yellow paint on the ring section of the pin.

    Early Panthers ( Type A & D) used a similar shaped clip to fix tools like the towing clevis and spare tracks to the exterior racks, before they changed to a simpler pin in the Panther Gs. Those clips had chains attached, so they wouldn't get lost, but as yours has no hole for attaching a chain, it's not quite a 100% match . But at least that's a start.

      Nick you are correct about the toolbox pins and it does look like one. However this was taken off a breech block of a large caliber WWII German gun but I can't remember which one or what it was retaining.
