Some pics from yesterdays Tankfest at Bovington, boy was it hot, god knows what it was like inside an AFV!. The guvnor of this site was tooling about in a T34.

Nice pics John, unfortunately it clashed with work and iam already using lots of days for W&P next month, Looks like theyve had the paintbrush out on the Panther and Jadgpanther since i was there last??

Is the Running Jadgpanther (the one you snapped below) owned by the Tank Museum and is it an original?

I knew they had the Tiger and Mk 3.... very cool, great snaps

It is an original one and privately owned by the SdKfz Foundation (Mike Gibb).

Its owned by The SDKFZ Foundation along with loads of other lovely things. The museums runner is a Mk 3 by the way.

Great images. The Jadgpanther can be seen on youtube firing the main gun and running around in tankfests of years past. Very nice restoration of a former range target.

They fired the gun yesterday....very impressive.

The Jagdpanther restoration is nothing short of fascinating. The SdKfz organization used two completely destroyed range wrecks to create this vehicle and I believe they sourced the fully functional main gun right out of Germany (please correct me if I am wrong). To see the vehicles they started with and then to look at the end result has me shaking my head in disbelief. Just amazing!!!

The SdKfz organization used two completely destroyed range wrecks to create this vehicle and I believe they sourced the fully functional main gun right out of Germany (please correct me if I am wrong). To see the vehicles they started with and then to look at the end result has me shaking my head in disbelief. Just amazing!!!

They only used one of the wrecks the other is still around

So they didn't use any parts or pieces from the second wreck?

The better wreck that finally got restored was gunless
the second wreck was so badly shot that it was broken in two but it still had a smashed gun ,saukopf and the collarmantlet.

the foundation found a complete gun + saukopf in Germany ( Pirmasens museum) and the mantlet was taken from the second wreck. I don't think many other parts were to be recovered from this pile of scrap.

large segments of the lower and upper armour had to be replaced to recreate a complete vehicle again , and they did it

So I was correct - "two" wrecks were used; One being the base vehicle upon which the current vehicle is based off of, the other for parts. Thanks for the confirmation, gentlemen

I read a rather extensive writeup about the restoration on the SdKfz.com website a few years back and distinctly remember that two wrecks were used in the restoration. Glad to see my memory hasn't completely failed me
