I´ve a 1944 Kubelwagen, and I know at least four more here in Sweden. I´ve not figured out yet how I insert pictures, else I could insert a picture of mine.

Some time ago i discovered that there was a kubel only a few KM from my home!

Friend of mine told me there could be a thousand kubelwagans left, but I know there are two in NZ - one mine and the second one belong to Film Director's Peter Jackson for his movie Dum Buster.

Difficult to assess how many VW82 there are in the UK as so many folks dont show them and/or are not on the internet. Attempts over on www.vw166.com to register the world-wide Kubel and Schwimm populations have also met with only limited success.

However, on the basis of those that do show-up and talking with various folks in the WW2 German vehicle and VW crowds, I would suggest there to be between more than 50No and possibly up to 70No vehicles in the country in various states of repair.

Be interesting to hear others views.

In Norway we think there are around 60 Kübelwagens.

I have put a lot of thought and study to this very question and if I had to bet money, would guess (as a hopeful but safe bet) that there are probably about 850 left in the world in various states of restoration or repair.

Also....All Type 82 Kubel bodies (all were made by Ambi-Budd until sometime in 45) from about June 1943 until the end in 1945 were painted Dunkelgelb (tan). The chassis (All made by VW) remained Dunkelgrau (dark grey) until 5.44 due to existing stocks of Dunkelgrau paint. I guarantee that your 44 Kubel would have orignally been a Dunkelgelb body.
