New Photos of Tiger II, 1./s. SS-Pz.Abt. 101

A couple of new pics of a Tiger II of the 1. Kompanie, schwere SS-Panzer Abteilung 101, abandoned during the retreat across France. These are courtesy of John Haberle, and were in his father's collection. His father was a JAG oficer, and is shown posing on the tank with his French "chaufferette" in December 1944.

The 1. Kompanie was withdrawn from the Normandy front in August 1944 and sent back to Sennelager to draw Tiger IIs. By the time they returned to the front the Germans were fighting to save forces crossing the Seine River, and the 1. Kompanie lost all but one of their 14 Tiger IIs during the retreat.

    Best,
    Greg

      AMAZING photos, Greg

Please thank Mr. Haberie for sharing them with us. It's not often we get to see new, unpublished Tiger photos. Have you considered contacting Bill Auerbach? He may want to use these in a future issue of "Panzerwrecks"

      Great stuff
