    Hungarian Tigers?

Did the hungarians use Tigers at the final stages of the war (1944)?
I've read that the schwere Panzer Abteilung 503 gave some Tigers to the hungarian army, is this true?
Can anybody provide any kind of information?
    Thanks in advance.

Knowing us Hungarians, they were probably taken apart to see how they worked an arguement ensued about which HUNGARIAN invented the tiger tank and then all interest was lost. (if the rest of the Hungarians are anything like MY family anyways ).

Yes, the Schw. Pz. Abt. 503 and 506 gave 10 Tigers in '44 to the Hungaran Army. They fought in Galizien (sorry don't knew the English name). Photo support for known turret numbers: 114, 115, 122, 214, 301, 332. The numbers hasn't got any sytem, becouse the vehicles used the original german markings. The car park was totally mess: early, late, with or without zimmerit, red or black numbers, on yellow or camo paint.

Of the subject, but Polish Home Army captured 2 or 3 operational rPanthers during Warsaw Uprising in August 44 and used them against Germans. They also captured 2 Hetzers and few halftracks. One Hetzer was immobile so it was used staticly as part of the barricade and other was fully operational.

German army gave hungarians 10 tiger tanks in may 1944 and 5 tigers in july 1944 (after Kliment, Bernád 2007, 97). They should be used by hungarian 2 tank division in 1944. Without hungarian markings and registration numbers.
Photos for example in Kliment, Bernád 2007, pages 190-191
Hungarian army in years 1944-45 used Panther tanks too (about 25)

                from ww2incolor site...
                described as:
Somewhere in Hungary, two parked Tiger tanks, either in German or Hungarian service, most likely during 1944-1945.

One of my students did a presentation on Hungarian inventors last spring (they visited Budapest) and I was amazed at how many Hungarians were involved in inventing things and had competing claims with other inventors for "having invented it first."
