    Equipment on Truck

Sorry this is not Panzer specific, but was not sure what other Forum would be the proper place for this question.

Does anyone know what the equipment on this truck is?

    Thanks,
    John

    Mobile bath and shower unit?

There appears to be a canvas screen partially abscured tucked down the side of the tanks.

I was just wondering if these tanks may be filled with cool water and with the warmth of the sun are heated up during the day ready to be used as some sort of shower system.

Just a wild stab in the dark,

    Cheers,

    Mark.

I do not think so. Water was ofthen very very scarce in the African campaign. And i assume that is where this truck is. They would not shower when there was not enough to drink.

I will add my own wild guess or unaimed arrow:

I see tanks and i see Africa, so i'm thinking water.
But then, theres more than just the tanks. Its some kind of installation.

So i think it purifies the water from the wells in North Africa or maybe it even de-salt seawater, so it can be used to drink.

        Agree!

The tanks have pressure valve and seals, like some boilers and pressure cookers. My thoughts were some kind of desalination as well but have never read of such a device. Hope someone knows for certain. Thanks to you both.

They are for some sort of processing, chemicals, petroleum, ???. I don't know what a desal plant would look like but these are pressure vessels. The chimney looking thing could be a pop-off valve(pressure relief) or a vent for steam if this is a heat exchanger. A wild guess would be part of a rocket fuel station or process? That doesn't make sense considering the palm trees. But we are only seeing the upper part. The rest is blocked by the truck. I think what you are seeing in the truck is piping and a welding screen.

It looks like some type of equipment off a ship in a harbour installation that is being transported for repair or salvage? Just a thought.

Perhaps a mobile delousing station? Extreme heat and steam (under pressure) used to treat lice infected clothing?
