    A question about Notek light

    Hello.

I've found photos of several german tanks (Pz.IV Ausf. F2 and early G) that have only one Notek as headlight.
    For example:

Also everybody can see photos of Aberdeen/Patton Pz.IV F2

So there is a question: is it possible and comfortable to drive tank at night conditions with only Notek?
Do somebody here tested to drive something at night with only Notek light?

I have a thought that these tanks could have multi-purpose headlight holder, where Notek or usual headlight can to be installed. Can this thought to be right?

    Thank you!

    Re driving

    Hi thier ,

Whilst i can not confirm that different lights could be mounted, i can confirm that driving at night on tactical lights is bloody awfull!!!!!

Very difficult and annoying when someone should catch you out with a flash of light as your night vision is disrupted. You can end up following the tactical light on the rear of the vehicle in front and its quite possible to follow the lead vehicle off a cliff !!

I was in a wheeled earth mover and did not realise the APC in front had halted ...end result was to completely crush the storage bins on the rear.
This jammed the rear crew door and crushed all the beer. Needless to say i relocated myself fair sharpish as the beer was critical !

    Regards
    Tim

      Notek

      Hi

Driving only on blackout lights is an real "nightmare" ...you don't see ****.....even with simple wheeled vehicles ...but actually its designed that others don't see you

Once we had to take position during a night move with only 4x4 and 6x6 wheeled vehicles and we had to drive on blackout lights. As long as we were on regular roads it was ok, but once off road the small lights tend to vanish and sudenly were real close. Obstacles like trees , bushes and rocks could not be seen in time and were hit ......the next morning we saw the carnage done to the vehicles.

The german rear notek light works as a warning for the following vehicle ...if you see two blocks its ok if you see 4 blocks your to close.

The bigger Bosch headlight ,mainly installed on Panzers, was sometimes removed as to prevent damage ( many ko'd panzers show wrecked Bosch lights)

      ciao
