    Interesting Panzer relic

I just went back from Germany, where I picked up a few PZ items,my wife says
I'm crazy, and she's probaly right,I am talking about the remains of a barrel and a track from a Panther, these was found in the woods in Eastgermany(Wilmersdorf) a small town not far from Berlin,I was told that the SS-Panzer Abteilung (502)had some heavy battle there against the russian.
The track is very rusted, but the barrel is in a good condition, you can see a hole
in the barrel,my guess is,that the crew destroyed the barrel, before the abanded the tank,so it not could be use by the enemy.
I think this is great for a display,I hope you like it.
    Regards
    J.S

        Hi Merdock
The weight of this section is about 120 kilos.

Hi Jørn, I think that your Panther barrel and track will make a great addition to your collection. I really like them. A great peice of history.
          Cheers, Ade.

            Hi Jørn,

            Those are VERY nice pieces

I just saw this barrel for sale on eBay.de a couple of weeks ago- it's really nice, but it's not from a Panther. It's the muzzle break of the 7,5cm Kw.K.40 L/48, not the Kw.K42, so it's from a Panzer IV G/H or Sturmgeschuetz IV. The track is definitely a Panther's though. The barrel looks as if it was simply hit during a battle and a chunk was broken off- if the crew had destroyed it, they would have either burst the barrel by detonating explosives inside (it could look like a peeled banana) or they could have simply destroyed the breech or recoil mechanism.

            Matt
