    Boxed Tank alternate glass

    Hi guys!

Today I´ve got this box filled with 3 (alternate)glasses ..

I guess they be part of the observation slit ..

All glasses are marked with the code "hej" = Sicherheitsglas G.m.b.H. Kunzendorf N.L. Kreis Sorau ..

Nice condition, the glasses are all clear and there are no cracks ..

The boxhandle ist at the rivet broken, but this is marginal ..

Does anybody know the type of the tank wherefore the glasses are?

    Best regards
    Manfred

            Hi,

Tough one. My guess would be a the hull of a Panzer III or Pamzer IV A-G

Conversely they may belong vehicle conversion such as a early Stug III. They appear to be painted Panzer Gray.

              Dear Aeneas:

Your vision blocks could in principle be used in many German tanks. They have a standard size and were interchangeable between tanks. See here:
              http://tiger1.info/EN/DirectVisionBlocks.html

For example they could be used in the turret walls of a Tiger I, in the holder that you see at the bottom of this photo:

I am curious about the metal box and I'd like to see photos of the sides and back? The red primer paint suggests that the box was originally fixed to the inside wall of a tank (red primer was used to paint the tank insides, late in the war).

In that case, I don't think it's from a Tiger as I've never seen a box of that size on Tiger stowage diagrams.

Thanks a lot for those information!

Willingly I´ll give you the desired pics ..

@ David - I agree with you assuming that the box was fixed in the tank - on the bottom of the box are 4 boreholes and so it appears correct

                Kindly regards
                Manfred

@ David - The measures of the vison blocks are concordant with the general information as specified on your website ..
