A lot of vehicles were just pushed into bomb craters and used as roadfill. There's a more or less complete King Tiger waiting to be dug up in Normandy, parts of the turret were salvaged a few years ago but the hull is still under ground.

There's also the story of a "sibling" to the Vimoutiers Tiger, supposedly pushed into a road crater and filled in. This story has never been properly confirmed though and might be a sidetrack to the King Tiger above which is confirmed. Another theory which is also plausible is that it's a Pz IV.

In any case I'm sure that there are several "road fill" tanks and halftracks yet to be discovered.

                Thanks for the photos
If its going to be sold for scrap metal i would seriously be interested in buying it for twice the scrap value. I imagine it will go to a museum though!

The article Theodore posted says that the tank is in "near perfect condition." OK, what am I missing here? By the pictures, the turret is gone and one side of the hull is ripped open and a track is missing. Near perfect?? Sounds like some of our members' definition of "mint condition" when they try to sell something on the estand...

Is there a forum member who lives near by that could get some additional pictures?
