Artillery Or Tank Part ? Ie

    Hello,

I have question about artillery gun or tank part found recently in Poland. Undoubtly german WW2 item - found on battlefield and painted typical german "Dunekelgelber Anstrich". It seems to be gun mount...
    Can someone identify this item?
    Regards
    Marcin

id say(and its just me) its a mount for a light anti-aircraft gun judging by the half circle things where the shoulders of the person firing it would go!!

      re photo

Hi , dont think it is an AA piece, the size of the item mitigates against that.

It is massively heavy , like trying to traverse an elephant.

The rail along the base would indicate a componant part that bolts onto something.

Hope someone who is carrying out a restoration recognizes it.

      regards

      Tim

Maybe some more pictures of the item? I would like to see closeup from the small item behind backplate, looks like adjusting part. Also there seems to be markings on the other side of backplate, what does read there?

                Lafette

It is for a light flak, and is called "Erd-Lafette fur MK 103", this is a late war emergency mount for using surplus Luftwaffe MK 103 aircraft cannon.

There is an additional pivot mount, that appears to be missing and this pivot mount is inteneted to be clamped on top of any large wooden post or, tree stump that has specially been prepared for it.

The hole in the large plate is to see the front sight.

An excellent find of a very rare item, there are several other simiar emergency Lafette designs for other types of surplus Luiftwaffe guns.

I have a photo of one but am unable to post.

                  Flak Lafette

It is a light flak mount, and was called "Erd-Lafette fur MK 103", the MK 103 cannon was a 30mm gun that was a surplus Luftwaffe aircraft cannon. Missing from this Lafette is a pivot mount, this would have been clamped to the top of a wooden post or tree stump.

This is one of many emergency late war Lafettes desigend to be able to use surplus Luftwaffe aircraft guns on the ground.

The large shield is for the protection of the gunner and the central hole is for sighting.

A very rare and interesting item.

So the rest of parts are for the same gun.... Feed tray, base mount... and some boxes for belted ammo...
