Ehh ... you're joking right? THAT is the tank we are talking about. Assembled on a jig, indoors at the Sinsheim Museum, will be kept as found.

          Panther poop

Did anyone ever discover the likely unit that owned it when it blown and abandoned? Is there any other history other than it was found when digging a new road in the Ukraine?

          Thanks,
          Lloyd

True, but if I had the money and the space I would have definately bought it without hesitation.

I've done some limited research. Looking at where the tank was found, timeline and referencing unit deployment maps it's plausible that this Panther Ausf. A was lost (probably helplessly bogged down and blown by crew) when the 47th Panzerkorps tried to reach the Cherkassy/Korsun pocket in Feb. 1944.

                Little lesson of geography.

This Panther was found in Ukraine, not in Russia.
Ukraine is not a part of Russia (USSR) just 16 years.

                Please remember this fact.

You'd be amazed at what these new space-age buffing compounds can bring back.

I am curious if the tank was sold leagaly. Under Ukrainian law everything before 1945 is considered as antique and is not allowed to be taken out of the coutntry.

Cant imagine why they would not allow the sale. Most countries will allow them to be imported as long as they are demilled first. It's nothing more than a tractor at that point. How about these Stugs in Finland. They were up as well.
