Here is a pic of a US Sherman tank pulled out of the sea in 1984 at Dorset, UK. As the tank was hauled ashore, the tracks started to turn - after 40 years under water. The black finish was applied later to protect it from rusting.

At least this one was saved, as opposed to the Stug that rusted away in Poland after being "rescued".

The situation, when somebody are trying to sell something that he is not own, is not very seldom.

There are people who are trying to sell tanks from Kubinka.
But this is impossible for any amount of money.

I think you mean the Stug with "ostketten" that is rusting away in Saratov, Russia.

Yes, you are correct. I mixed it up with Stug IV that they found in Poland:

The Saratov Stug is a sad story if there ever was one. Salvaged complete, even the crew MP40 was still in its rack, it was said that with a good clean and with batteries and the oil replaced it could have been driven from the salvage site. Now stripped of everything internally and externally not welded down. Left outside to rust and to be vandalized.

I have seen this tank from the lake myself and it was great! Right people look after her and its definetly not for a sale!
This first web page is strange, its look like there is articles and pictures from all over the Russia ja Europe because those finds are not discovered by one group of people.

Òhis tank has been found by my friend's brother in 90-th in Ukraine. He was looking for the chance to sale it. But after restoration (he put about $ 50-60 thousands in this project - big money at that time) the tank has been arrested in a workshop by the government. At this moment a tank is in Kiev (in museum)
