    Waa numbers on 2 Pz.III

Looking for any info on a couple of data plates on two Pz.III ausf.N

one plate has the code csh and waa 212
the other's 3 letter code is unreadable but has waa 92.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Simon
csh is the company MNH in Hannover
#212 is the company Henschel in Kassel
#93 is the company Schichau in Elbing (are you shure reading it correct? 63 is MAN, that would be more logic)

      Hi,
The waa212 could also be read as 272.
      The other is definately waa92.
This was found on dataplates inside PzIII, one Ausf L, one Ausf M, but both rebuilt to Ausf N.

      Cheers,

        I was not precise:
#92 is the company Schichau, Elbing

        212 or 272
#272 makes no sense: Wieland-Werke, Ulm
#212 is a manufacturer of the PzKpfw III: Henschel, Kassel

          Thanks!

Can you see any logic in the waa212 control-stamp on manufacturer "csh" / MNH, Hanover? Was MNH subcontracted to Henschel?

          Cheers,

            German intelligence

Germany tried to confuse its enemies:

all companies had those three letter names "cuw" "hwo" "csh" ...

at the companies places the ordnance office had their officers, accepting the materials. These offices had three digits as "212" (there were about 500 such offices)

there is NO LOGIC and they correspond absolutetly not.

MNH had a licence (by Daimler-Benz) to produce the Tank Mk III the other companies Henschel, MAN, Wegmann, Miag too.

But there were subcomponents delivered from one manufacturer to the others. This could be the reason for csh and 212 are found on the same vehicle, or field maintainace could mix up spare parts from one with others.
