    Track Link Identification Help

    Hi guys,

I've had this little link for quite a while now:

and have always thought it was from a Panzer 1, but I've recently discovered that there are some problems with that identification: firstly it's too narrow- it's only 24cm wide and the Pz1 track is listed as being 28cm, and secondly, there's a bit of a facing to the joint into which the two projections of the next track fit, with 4 square traction projections on it- both features later tank tracks had, but not, so far as I know, the Panzer 1. It's clearly from a type of vehicle whose drive sprocket had one set of central teeth, and it couldn't have been a big one either, but nothing I can find pictures of fits. I even tried the Borgward BI and II demolition vehicles, but nothing is quite right. So can anyone clear up this little mystery for me and tell me what this guy really is?

    Thanks in advance.

    Matt

If you need stupid ideas, I may go for one or two

Idea: maybe not a Panzer, but a halftrack of some kind? Ford Maultier or Opel Blitz or one of the many types of the bigger tractors/carriers machines /sdkfzbzgzbrz/

That's not a bad suggestion- I just discovered that the Ford Maultier had similar looking tracks, but I can't find a sufficiently-clear photo to really tell. The others, have all proven not to be the 'owners' though. So thanks for the nonetheless

Looks like it could be an RSO Rauppenschlepper link which is the same configuration , but I don't know the exact width.

I checked that one too but it has a dual sprocket drive wheel and a solid center section, and this track clearly goes on a single central sprocket drive wheel. But thanks Bob

              pzkw I?

Here's a pzkw II track that I own. At least that's what the tag reads which came with the track...its 26cm wide. Sure looks similar... or is it pzkw 1? but according to your research those tracks lists at 28cm wide? Also slightly different linkage area... So what's mine I wonder if the tag is inaccuratly states pzkw II? ...again width on mine (tagged pzkw II) = 26cm only... yours 24cm and pzkw 1 = 28cm??? Are we sure? Nick
